This post is designed to give you a primer so you can be ready for PodCamp 2013. This year, the venue is different but the ability to share, network, learn and make lasting connections has not changed. So, I am writing this post to help those that may not be familiar with what we do or how to get involved.
I stumbled upon PodCamp 3 years ago and I jumped in the water, feet first, last year and spoke at the conference. It was a no brainer when the crew asked me to join the blog tour this year.
Let’s start with a few questions people new to PodCamp may have today. A little Q&A, if you will. 
What is PodCamp?
Technically it is an “un-conference” similar to a Barcamp, where you get to see a variety of speakers give talks with an “anything goes” format. Our conference loosely follows that format, but we put a little more planning into it, to make sure we get awesome sessions. Not to mention a great new venue this year. Hotel Preston has opened their doors to us and with that comes great new session space and better networking spaces.
Is it right for me?
Yes, if you like to meet great people, learn new things and want to see how great the digital, blogging and media talent is in our community then this is the perfect place to be. What’s more is that PodCamp is not just about podcasting. There will be a few sessions about podcasting but there is so much more. If you are wanting to get more out of content creation whether it’s podcasting, YouTube, video, blogging, marketing or education then this is a great place to be.
What should I bring?
Comfortable clothes. Can you go Black Tie, yes; but I wouldn’t. We will not judge you if you do, but this crowd is more jeans and a t-shirt. Shoes of choice are sneakers, tennis shoes or whatever athletic shoe reference you would like to insert here. You will be moving around to new sessions, standing up and networking and staying all day because it is that good so dress to be happy. Something to take notes with, because no matter who you are, you will find something you can take with you that you didn't know before you arrived. Now some like the pen and paper routine and that works, but don’t be afraid to bring your laptop, tablet or use your favorite smartphone. Why not take advantage to spread the knowledge with those who can’t be there via your favorite social network of choice?
What else do I need to know?
The speaking sessions each last about 30 minutes and session sign up is now open. I encourage you to go see what sessions are available. Also, it is not too late to speak at Podcamp-- you haven’t missed your chance to sign up! On the morning of the event there will be impromptu sessions that will be up for grabs, so if you want to speak at this year’s session, polish up on your presentation skills and sign up.
